Alleviating Inequity in Health Care in Rural Regions of Hunan Province

Yale-China Health Programs

Since 1906, Yale-China Health Programs have been connecting health professionals in China and at Yale to build knowledge and capacity through long-lasting individual and institutional relationships. Through training, exchanges, and expert partnerships, Yale-China continues to bring professionals from Changsha, Western Hunan, Kunming, and Yale together to cultivate leaders and create change on a systems level, prioritizing rural areas in Hunan.

Pivoting to 湘西 Western Hunan

Rural Health Initiative

Western Hunan Health Initiative aims to transform health services at the local level for people living in the Western Hunan Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, an underserved, rural region that has more than 40 ethnic groups.

Currently, we support Chia Fellowship alumni in implementing exploratory or interventional projects that address unmet health and healthcare needs in this area through the Chia Community Health Services Program.
