Yale-China Community Service Exchange

About the Community Service Exchange

Yale-China’s Community Service Exchange places Yale students at nonprofit organizations in New Haven, Hong Kong, and Guangdong Province for internships in June, July, and early August. Interns organize conferences, work on grant proposals, conduct research on migration and community issues, and learn about the nonprofit sector in the United States and China—all in collaboration with a partner from New Asia College in Hong Kong or Lingnan (University) College in Guangzhou.

From the Field

"Discussions with other Yale-China interns gave me a chance to look at the issues from the perspectives of other non-profit organizations, government offices, and individuals…Being one of the few people in the city actually working at a non-profit (common responses from people I met at Yale Club and alumni events: “You came to Hong Kong to intern...at a non-profit?” or “Hong Kong has non-profits?”) was enlightening.” – Charlotte Martin, 2009 Intern
