Yale-China emphasizes long-term relationships with both individuals and institutions, but we also lead the way in discerning new areas of need. Our portfolio of teaching sites reflects this range, starting with Yali High School, founded by Yale-China in 1906.

Yali High School

Location: Changsha, Hunan Province

Yale-China Fellows continue the tradition of teaching English to top high school students in south-central China at a school founded by the Yale-China Association over one hundred years ago. This year, Yali celebrates its 110th Year Anniversary since its founding.

New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Location: Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong

Yale-China Teaching Site Established: 1956
Yale-China Fellows teach English literature and a self-designed General Education course at a premier Hong Kong university and carry out their own community engagement projects. New Asia College has been a Yale-China teaching site for almost 70 years.

Xiuning Middle School

Location: Xiuning County, Huangshan, Anhui Province

School Established: 1912

Yale-China Teaching Site Established: 2006
Yale-China Fellows teach oral English to senior middle school students at a key school in rural Anhui Province, in the southern Huangshan region. This year, Xiuzhong celebrates its 10th Year Anniversary of its partnership with Yale-China.

Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University

Location: Zhuhai, Guangdong Province

Yale-China Teaching Site Resumed: 2013
As a Guangzhou-based site for 15 years, Lingnan (University) College offered Yale-China Teaching Fellows the opportunity to teach English and U.S. history classes. After a two-year hiatus, Fellows will return to Lingnan (University) College in the fall of 2013, this time on the school's Zhuhai campus. The revitalized teaching assignment includes professional and academic English writing and U.S. culture and society.

John C. Daniels School of International Communication

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

School Established: 2006

Yale-China Teaching Site Established: 2016
Teaching Fellows provide 6th grade students with Chinese language and culture lessons while engaging in school and community life. The school is named after John C. Daniels, an American politician who served as mayor of New Haven (1990-1993). The school's mission is to teach different languages and engage students in a global society.

ACES Educational Center of the Arts

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

School Established: 1973

Yale-China Teaching Site Established: 2016

The school is nestled in the heart of New Haven’s Audubon Arts District. High school students from over twenty-five school districts attend ECA in the afternoon to study creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual arts with professional artists. The Chinese Teaching Fellow will assist students taking Mandarin for credit and support the school’s several partnerships with Chinese schools.
