Apply for the 2016-2017 Yale-China Arts Fellowship by September 18, 2016, Hong Kong time.

Before you submit, check that you have all the required materials.

  • One-page resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Three artistic samples (Note: Each artistic sample should not exceed 2MB per file. Please upload all files to Dropbox.com. Video links may be sent via email.)

Eligibility

▪ Fellowships intended for emerging artists
▪ Must be proficient in English
▪ Must provide samples of artistic work
▪ Must be available for an in-person, 30-minute interview in Hong Kong on September 24, 2016
▪ Must be able to spend six months in New Haven between January and July 2017
▪ Must be a current Hong Kong resident and be eligible for a United States visa

▪ Ability to articulate importance of bridging cultures
▪ Readiness and potential for growth
▪ Interest in Hong Kong identity in artistic expression
▪ Maturity and ability to reflect
▪ Interest in collaboration
▪ Flexibility to adapt in foreign or unexpected situations
▪ Sensitivity to cultural differences

Interviews

Finalists will be alerted by Friday, September 23, 2016. Upon receipt of this message, each finalist must schedule a time for his or her 30-minute interview in Hong Kong on September 24. Time availability is first come, first served after finalists have been alerted to their status. Finalists should bring their Hong Kong Identity Card.

The 2016-2017 HKETO-NY Arts Fellows will be announced in October.

Each applicant is considered on the basis of his or her academic record, character, references and recommendations, interest in public service and learning, and ability to make a meaningful contribution to Yale-China and its partners. Because of the number of applications, Yale-China’s interview committee may not be able to interview every applicant. The committee reserves the right to make a decision on the basis of the written application alone.
