Celebrate Lunarfest!

As the sun rises on the Year of the Rooster, Lunarfest 2017 promises to be a celebration like no other! The Yale-China Association, the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale, and the New Haven Museum have teamed up yet again to bring Chinese culture and tradition to the streets of New Haven in one spectacular day of activities to be held on Saturday, February 4th. This year, the theme of Lunarfest will be Regions of China. Lunarfest 2017 will be both fun and educational. The day will begin at 10:00 AM with the Lion Dance Parade on the stretch of Whitney Avenue between Grove Street and Trumbull Street. As the parade reaches the Audubon Street intersection, various dance groups from the New Haven community will showcase their skills. In the afternoon, arts and music events, including the famous Kunqu Opera, will be held at Yale University’s Luce Hall at 34 Hillhouse Avenue. The New Haven Museum at 114 Whitney Avenue will host crafts activities and educational opportunities, and the Yale-China Association’s main office at 442 Temple Street will be open to the public all day with an exhibit and other activities. Lunarfest will end at 5:00 PM with a fantastic musical finale in the New Haven Museum.
