Yale-China Hospital and Nursing Programs
Academic Nursing Program
The Academic Nursing Leadership Development Program (Academic Nursing Program) aims to contribute to the development of the academic nursing program at Central South University (CSU) School of Nursing, with special emphasis on the development of its Ph.D. program in nursing.
The Academic Nursing Program includes exchanges between Central South University School of Nursing and its affiliated hospital nursing staff and faculty at the Yale School of Nursing and its affiliated institutions. These exchanges mainly include fellowships that are awarded annually for CSU nursing faculty and staff to spend time (either a semester or an academic year) at the Yale School of Nursing and biannual training workshops or series in Changsha that will be conducted by Yale faculty.
Leadership Development for Xiangya Faculty
The Leadership Development for Xiangya Faculty program aims to promote the development of a few defined disciplines at Xiangya through Xiangya faculty visits to Yale and subsequent exchanges with Yale faculty and students in Changsha. Focus areas for 2007-2008 include medical/research ethics, community health planning, implementation, evaluation, and hospital administration.
Hospital and Medical Program
Working in collaboration with the Xiangya School of Medicine and its three affiliated hospitals in Changsha, Hospital and Medical Program aims to develop a model hospital-based medical residency training program at Xiangya-affiliated hospitals, with the integration of medical ethics and professionalism across the continuum of medical training. It also aims to enhance public health and public health education in rural communities through exchanges and training involving various students and senior professionals from the U.S. and China. With the support of a core group of Yale faculty members we hope to start the actual residency training using the new training curricula in September 2008.
