Arts Fellowship Application Information


2018-2019 Program

  • One-page resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Three artistic samples*


*Note: Each artistic sample should not exceed 2MB per file. Please upload all files to Dropbox.com. Video links may be sent via email.

Letters of recommendation may be sent directly to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) up to two weeks after the deadline.

Eligibility

▪ Fellowships intended for emerging artists
▪ Must be proficient in English
▪ Must provide samples of artistic work
▪ Must be available for an in-person, 30-minute interview in Hong Kong
▪ Must be able to spend six months in New Haven between January through June 2019
▪ Must be a current Hong Kong resident and be eligible for a United States visa

Selection

▪ Ability to articulate importance of bridging cultures
▪ Readiness and potential for growth
▪ Interest in Hong Kong identity in artistic expression
▪ Maturity and ability to reflect
▪ Interest in collaboration
▪ Flexibility to adapt in foreign or unexpected situations
▪ Sensitivity to cultural differences

Interviews

Each applicant is considered on the basis of his or her academic record, character, references and recommendations, interest in public service and learning, and ability to make a meaningful contribution to Yale-China and its partners. Because of the number of applications, Yale-China’s interview committee may not be able to interview every applicant. The committee reserves the right to make a decision on the basis of the written application alone.
