The Yale-China Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Martha Finn Brooks as the new Chair of Yale-China’s Board of Trustees.
Ms. Brooks assumed the chair as of July 1, 2010, following Terrill E. Lautz’s retirement from the position after six years of service as Chair of the Yale-China Association. As Chair, Terry always gave generously of his time. We will miss his presence but know he will remain an active member of the Yale-China community.
Ms. Brooks previously served as the board’s Treasurer. She retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of Novelis, Inc., the $11 billion global leader in aluminum rolled products, in 2009. She served as President CEO of Alcan Rolled Products Americas & Asia, and Senior Vice President of Alcan Inc. from 2002-2005. She spent 16 years with Cummins Inc, the global leader in diesel engines, as an officer from 1996 onward. Marcy graduated from Yale University in 1981 with a degree in Economics and Political Science, focusing on China and East-West Trade, and the Yale School of Organization and Management in 1986 with a Masters in Public and Private Management. She was a Yale-China Bachelor in Changsha from 1981-83 and most recently served on the board from 1998-2004, during which time she was active on the Finance Committee and co-chaired the highly-successful Yale-China Centennial Campaign. Ms. Brooks is currently a Board member for Harley-Davidson, Inc., Bombardier, Inc. and GeoSynFuels LLC. She is a trustee of Teach for America and a member of the Yale President's Council on International Activities, the Board of Governors of the Yale Alumni Association and the Board of Councillors of the Carter Center. She and her husband Toby live in Atlanta with their three sons.
