In Confessions, Professor Kang writes, “I am incapable of saying what people want to hear…In fact I regard it is as my personal mission to speak the opposite.” Join us for an intimate conversation with Professor Kang as he discusses his unique experiences growing up in China and his views on current U.S.-China relations.

Professor Kang is a prolific writer and recent author of Confessions: An Innocent Life in Communist China. He has published numerous books in Chinese on poetry as well as essays in Chinese on topics ranging from Chinese reactionaries to sexuality and literature. He is a frequent contributor to several newspapers and journals. Professor Kang has served as senior lector of Chinese at Yale University since 1994. He received his M.A. from Shaanxi Normal University in China.
